In recognition of the role of charity in alleviating human suffering around the world and the selfless efforts of charitable organisations and individuals, the UN designated 5th of September International Day of Charity, an event which celebrates the tireless work of charities globally.
Established with the objective of sensitising and mobilising people all around the world to help others through volunteering and philanthropic activity, the date was chosen by the UN to commemorate the passing of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
For over 45 years, Mother Teresa ministered to the poor, sick, orphaned and dying, while guiding the Missionaries of Charity’s expansion, first in India and then in other countries, including hospices and homes for the poorest and homeless.
MicroLearn are proud to support the Charity Learning Consortium (CLC), an organisation dedicated to providing affordable eLearning solutions to charities, not for profits and the third sector. Working with CLC for many years, we are proud to support over 150 charities as part of our ongoing commitment to the consortium.
When choosing September’s Module of Month, we decided to shine a light on our Value and Purpose module, created in collaboration with Liggy Webb, which explores how both value and purpose influence our professional lives and the ways in which you can add value to the lives of others. Value and Purpose help us grow and develop as individuals by representing the things that are important to and have meaning for us.
