‘Remember, remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot.’

As November 5th is Bonfire Night, we’re making our Fire Safety course November’s Module of the Month.

The very first Bonfire Night occurred in 1605 when Londoners lit bonfires to celebrate King James I surviving an assassination attempt after Guy Fawkes was discovered with barrels of gunpowder beneath the Houses of Parliament.

Over 400 years later and communities all around the United Kingdom still mark the occasion with bonfires, sparklers and firework displays.

While these events are great fun and usually safe, it’s still important to remember what to do in the event of a fire, whether it’s on Bonfire Night, at work, or at home.

That’s why we created our Fire Safety course, as part of the Health and Safety range, which explores how fires start, the types of extinguisher and how people react to the sound of a fire alarm.

We’ve also put together a free infographic full of Top Tips for a Safe Bonfire Night for you to download.
