We know that come January each year, our social media, news feeds and workplace conversations are often filled with talk of resolutions and new years’ goals, which tend to focus on self-improvement and personal wellbeing. That’s why we’ve chosen Healthy Living as our first Module of the Month for 2018.
According to recent studies, obesity rates for British men and women are the highest in Western Europe, often caused by overeating, lack of movement, and insufficient relaxation.
To mark its 70th anniversary, the NHS is working with councils and developers to establish a new Healthy Living Framework designed to address our biggest care challenges, including obesity, dementia and social isolation, by creating communities with a focus on healthy eating, exercise and interaction.
While Public Health England (PHE) recently issued new advice, stating adults should consume 1600 calories a day, down from 2,500 for men and 2,000 for women. The advice recommends allowing 400 for breakfast, 600 for lunch and 600 for dinner, although it doesn’t take drinks or snacks into account.
Our Healthy Living module forms part of our Workplace Wellbeing range, created in collaboration with Liggy Webb, and covers the benefits of healthy eating, the importance of exercise and the advantage of a good night’s sleep.
