Discrimination in the workplace is already one of the biggest news stories of 2018, which is why we’ve chosen our Sexual Discrimination course, from the Equality and Diversity range, as our Module of the Month for February.
100 years after women won the right the right to vote in the UK, there is still fierce campaigning for gender equality, with the MeToo, TimesUp and Gender Pay Gap movements repeatedly making headlines and highlighting discrimination.
In fact, a recent study by the Charted Management Institute (CMI) found that 85% of women and 80% of men reported witnessing discriminatory behaviour in a professional environment, while just 8% of managers are aware of the size of their organisation’s gender pay gap.
This comes just weeks before all organisations with over 250 employees are required to publish the gender split of their employees, highlighting both roles and salaries, under new government guidelines.
This is a step in the right direction, but is it enough?
