Children’s Mental Health Week 2020, taking place from the 3rd to the 9th of February, shines a spotlight on the importance of looking after emotional wellbeing from an early age. Now in its sixth year, the event run by children’s mental health charity Place2Be hopes to encourage more people than ever to get involved and raise awareness of this important issue.
This year’s theme is Find your Brave. Bravery comes in all shapes and sizes and is different for everyone. Whether sharing worries and asking for help, trying something new or pushing yourself outside your comfort zone, Finding Your Brave can build your confidence, self-esteem and make you feel good about yourself.
In recognition of Children’s Mental Health Week 2020, we have chosen our Safeguarding Children (Eng and Wales) module as February’s Module of the Month. Safeguarding children involves promoting their welfare by ensuring they grow up in circumstances where their physical and mental health, development and wellbeing aren’t impaired, as well as taking action to protect them from harm.
The module helps you to recognise signs of abuse, respond to and record disclosures, know how to report a concern and understand how English and Welsh legislation affects policies and procedures. As we become more aware of the impact of poor mental wellbeing, it’s more important than ever to ensure children are protected and supported through their young lives.
