According to the Mental Health Foundation, 74% of UK adults feel stressed to the point where they feel overwhelmed and unable to cope. So, with April marking National Stress Awareness Month, we’ve decided to make Relaxation our Module of the Month, in support of their efforts to increase public awareness of the ‘modern stress epidemic’.
With millions of people experiencing high stress levels, the negative effects on our overall health and wellbeing are at an all-time high, making it more important than ever to take the time to switch off from our busy schedules and relax.
So, as you look for ways to improve your physical health, your quality of sleep and your general state of mind, recognise that relaxation is an essential ingredient when looking after yourself during times of strain or pressure.
There are a wide range of relaxation techniques available, each with their own unique benefits…you simply need to find the one that works best for you.
For example, you could try mindful exercises such meditating, yoga or deep breathing to help you to focus on a single task, as they help tune out everything else, calming down both your mind and body.
Alternatively, try taking up a new hobby or engage in light exercise as a way to channel your energy into something positive and relaxing.
MicroLearn’s dedicated Relaxation course, created in collaboration with the Learning Architect, Liggy Webb, helps you refocus you mind and learn to switch off as it explores different relaxation techniques and the benefits of rest and recovery from the stresses of everyday life.
