As June marks both International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression and Child Safety Week, we’ve decided to make Safeguarding Children (England & Wales) our Module of the Month.
Adopted by the UN in 1982 in recognition of the impact the Israeli, Palestinian conflict was having on children, the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression on June 4, acknowledges all children around the world who are victims of physical, mental and emotional abuse.
Highlighting the UN’s commitment to children, the day continues to raise awareness of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the most widely ratified human right’s treaty in history, which has a huge impact on British Safeguarding legislation, as we explore in our course.
Child Safety Week, which runs from June 4-10 focuses on how child accidents, the leading cause of death for children in the UK, can be prevented. The annual event is organised by the Child Accident Prevention Trust and features the tagline, ‘Safe Children – together we’ve got this!’
MicroLearn’s Safeguarding Children (England & Wales) module focuses on how individuals can help protect children from the risk of harm by outlining the principles of child protection, explaining the impact of local legislation and exploring the 4Rs of Safeguarding; Recognise, Respond, Record and Report.
You can access the module for free by clicking here.
Although we’ve chosen the England & Wales title to feature as Module of the Month, the range also includes dedicated Northern Ireland and Scotland courses, as well as resources which explore Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults.
